Burlesque by its recent reputation conjures up images of the 2010 feature film starring Christina Aguilera – and yes while cabaret is one part of this art form – there is just so much more on offer! Dating back to the 1800’s, Burlesque encompasses a range of styles from theatrical performance to bawdy comedy and the infamous female striptease. VSassy Academy cover’s all aspects of Burlesque with a well rounded approach to both traditional and neo styles and offers private tuition, group classes and various student performance opportunities across Brisbane. What do I wear? · For Burlesque - classes, we recommend you dress comfortably so your body can move easily. Heels are also a must for this class. · For Pole Dancing - shorts and a sleeveless top is best as you need skin for grip. Heels are also recommended for this class.
How fit do I need to be? We all have to start somewhere so all of our beginner classes are suitable for any fitness level. If you have a pre-existing condition, please consult your physician and be sure to let us know so we can cater for you. Where are you located? Salisbury – 14b Chrome St, Salisbury What type of people come to the classes? Women of all shapes, sizes and ages! It doesn’t matter who you are or what you do, all are welcome at VSassy Academy. Classes offer students a safe and supportive environment where you can be free to be yourself. Do I have to take my clothes off? While VSassy Academy offers you a safe a supportive space for creative expression, removing clothes is not compulsory. You may however have performance opportunities where some people will feel comfortable removing clothing but you will never be pressured. You are in control of your body and how much or little you reveal. How long are the classes? Classes run for one and half hours. This time includes a warm up, dancing and cool down. Courses run for 8 weeks. Can I pay on the day? Unfortunately we can’t take payment on the day. All bookings and payments need to be made online or over the phone prior to the commencement of your course. Teachers are unable to take payments. What if I miss a class? If you give us 24hr notice of missing a class, you are welcome to use another session running in the same term as a makeup class. Classes can’t be transferred term to term and without notice the class is forfeited. What if I end up unable to attend the course after I book? With enough notice we can transfer the whole unused course and give you credit for when you are able to return, or you can pass it on to a friend. No refunds will be given.
